Re: DRM-Free Distribution for the PC/Mac version

@smurfinaus - Agree it is a subject that NEEDS discussion and feedback from the devs. I'm personally fine with whatever the devs decide, as I can understand they may have their own preferences or reasons for whichever option they choose (there are good reasons for and against drm eg if steam then ex...

Dredd: "You ready? You look ready."

Film: Dredd (2012) Rating: 8/10 (Action/sci-fi genre/comic genre) Comments: One of the most genuinely entertaining action movies I've seen in a while: Gets straight to the point. I'd compare it to the very entertaining/watchable/quality go-see-it-at-the-cinema movie: Source Code (equally 8/10) ie f...

I'm Troy McClure! You may remember me from...

Hi Warballoon Devs: On the subject of the Irate Avians, have you guys got any other cameos making their way onto a star command ship near you? Eg "Legend of Dungeon" dev RobotLoveskitty got the CEO backer of Plants vs Zombies as a backer and requested one of those chars be put in as a mob in that ga...

Where I'm @: A Brief Look At The Resurgence of Roguelikes

Where I'm @: A Brief Look At The Resurgence of Roguelikes How a single ASCII RPG spawned a generation of brutal classics I hate roguelikes. They crush me, burn me, drop me in acid and sneak up to stab me in the back. They curse me, break me and mock the very concept of fairness. They kill me. Every...

Re: What's the name of your ship and captain?

I always have trouble picking a name I like for my ships. In FTL: because of how quickly one could die I just ended up naming them based on how I died last time. Like the "Out of Time" or the "Hull Breach" As for my Captain, I'll just name him after me. But that has me wondering, your captain feels...

Re: Games while you wait

Another game you guys might like if you have a mac is : Gratuitous Space Battles. Is that any relation to gratuitous tank battles? ;) On iOS: Triple Town is going good. I also found a roguelike, "Cardinal Quest": It's alright so far, only had it for a few minutes, but if anyone is hankering for a g...

Re: DRM-Free Distribution for the PC/Mac version

My understanding is the steam workshop would be a great fit for modding community for SC, so that's the big drive for PC release?

I'm a fan of eg gog, but I see both cases given the above. Possibly release drm-free and then + steam keys with purchase?

Re: To minigame or not to minigame...

What are people's fav minigames from other games?

Eg: GTA: China Town Wars was imo LEGENDARY good in this respect. Nintendo has produced some great ones in their warioware and also in Zelda games eg fishing <3.

Re: Game Over, Save Game and Meaningful Consequences

Yeah, that is good. More complexity and more stringent conditions to win and more challenging stats of enemies etc... :) But I think games that do well if the gameplay is fun are variously: 1) Casual fun - it's about the experience, which stands out from the crowd 2) death mode - some ppl get their ...
