An idea I thought about was that the fire does nothing but burn your crew :?
What about when it gets into a room the upgrade goes offline or something like that?
Why don't you just let me put your brain in a glass bowl i mean its not like the end of the world!
(Only one reported case of fish in a Cortex's glass bowl it touched the brain dead.)

Fire should deplete o2 (there should be limited amounts and if an area is too low it hurts crew more and more unless the put spacesuits on, same goes with holes in the hull)

There's a number of mechanics and systems to such a thing and that needs to be balanced with the enjoyment of the game. How do you think that entire setup would work (meters, rooms, crew, etc.)?

would this be fun or an annoyance?

You need to balance different elements and I did not quite like this on FTL... I didn't want a super realistic game like that but one that's fun hence why over played start command so much more...

It would be done by like cubic feet of 02 and it would be way less annoying than FTL because you'll be able to put it out easier

O2 is something we discussed but it just got to the micro of the micro. Fires spread in the newest version and your ship can now be destroyed so it should address some of the issues.

if the fire does deplete the O2 then it should also go out, same thing with fires near hull breaches.

of course the lack of O2 would probably have rather unfortunate effects on your crew too.
