Your vs. You're

"Your" is a possessive pronoun (That is your car); "You're" is a contraction of "you are" (You're about to wreck your car).

Then vs. Than

"Then" indicates time or sequence (Do this then do that); "than" indicates extent (This is better than that).

There vs. Their vs. They're

• "There" is a preposition (It's over there; There is no reason you shouldn't already know this).
• "Their" is a plural possessive pronoun (That's their car over there).
• "They're" is a contraction of "they are" (They're in their car over there).

It's vs. Its

Ok, this one's a little screwy. "It's" is a contraction of "it is" (It's sad that people don't know this already) and since the 'apostrophe-s' is also how we show possession, we drop the apostrophe when showing possession with "it" (Its title is "Star Command"). You know, to avoid confusion (because English is confusing enough). You never use an 'apostrophe-s' to show plurality (One robot plus one robot is "two robots," NOT "two robot's").

Punctuation and Spell-Check are both free to use

So why not use both (as necessary)?

Lesson concluded. Nothing will change but at least I feel better.

This is a useful resource, not only for punching dolphins, but also for grammar: http://theoatmeal.com/tag/grammar

Ironically… you misspelled punctuation in the final heading :)

You should give peas a chance, besides a mime is a terrible thing to waste.
Just call me Lord Starfari the mostly Omniscient, almost Omnipotent Protector of the weak, most magnificently über awesome and incredibly modest Overlord of the local group galactic cluster and nearby regions.

Dear Lord, I must constantly battle the auto correct on both my phone and this kindle fire HD, the latter of which can not be disabled. I myself can have bad punctuation and capitalization when using touchscreen devices, but I would rather deal with all the bad grammar, punctuation, misplaced apostrophes, and syntax that would shame even newbie ESL students, if I could at least make sure I was reading what was intended to be written.
Predictive text is the worst spell-check-esque technology ever created.

Someone types; "Dewd! I totally just smoked this salvia stuff and like my head got all trippy and stuff, yo!"

Sure, if I read that, I would lament the continual downward spiral of human intellect, but I would at least understand it.
However, the text I receive would instead read;

"Dawdle! In totality just smoking thesis saliva stuffing and likable my heading goat Al tryptophan and stuffy, you've!"

You all know what I'm talking about. And it's even worse when it lets you add words to auto correct's dictionary. After my brother borrowed the kindle for a couple of weeks, I now have a lot of trouble going to gamefaqs.com. instead I am taken to gang faps.

Needless to say, after sterilizing my kindle, I will no longer let others borrow it.
